Kiffin’s Staff
Update. It is a foregone conclusion that Lane Kiffin is coming to Knoxville. Even the ultra-conservative, “I gotta wait on GoVolsXtra to scoop me or I will shit my britches” Tennessee Message Boards are reporting that a Kiffin deal is close. My source inside of the AD’s office emphasized that Kiffin is a 90% lock to come to the Hill, just working on the dollars and terms. She says that a Press conference is scheduled for Monday or Tuesday, as a sign of respect for the TBC.
A majority of Tennessee fans are happy with the hire, as they lack the requisite football acumen of your atypical LWS blogger or commenter. The spoiled and raucous Legions of the Miserable (LOM) have begun to bury Kiffin with comments such as “he is the Obama of coaching”; “he is the Crompton of coaching”; or “at least Bill Battle never had a losing record, Kiffin doesn’t have a winning record”.
My thoughts? The Paul Finebaum jr (John Adams is his daddy) of Tennessee Bill King, hates Kiffin. And since King hates the University of Tennessee, the best thing for UT must be to hire Lane Kiffin as quickly as possible.
As far as the Kiffin staff, here are some of the names she has heard being discussed and vetted:
- Orgeron (from a LOL view, please God Please) DL
- David Reaves OC/QB
- Monte Kiffin DC
- Chris Kiffin (TEs)
- Troop Taylor Unknown
- Joe Whitt Jr DBs
- Holdovers from TBC’s staff of Drayton RBs and Scott WRs

There are some unfilled positions and my source said that none of those listed above are 100% committed. Other nuggets she was able to provide:
- Contract was 90% complete
- Monte wishes to be near his grandkids
- 5 or 6 of the potential Assistants have prior recruiting coordinator experience
- Tennessee will now be “cool and hip”
- Pastries are now permitted at the AD’s office
- Chavis will be employed somewhere next year. His body of work well respected by his peers

Yes, this will restore the natural balance of power in the SEC. UT will bypass UGA and get back to where it belongs: 2nd best in the SEC behind UF and Bama.
