uga-homoerotic-group-pic.jpg

(Thanks Gator Hippy) How does Mark Richt get a pass on intentional wrongdoing? Clearly he is not as nasty of human being as Herban Meyer, but 30 arrests since 2005? Richt should pray about that and stop building houses in Honduras. 30 at UGA? Comparing the arrest records of rival schools in Urban Meyer’s UF tenure. | GatorSports.com . Not to be outdone by Florida, UGA even has a parking boot remover…

  1. But if they pray about it, ask for forgiveness, won’t they again be pure?

  2. Those numbers are wrong. The author claims to be calculating arrests, but he has included citations for incidents where players are not arrested. It might be a fine distinction, but his numbers aren’t accurate by his own description. For example, Josh Mcneil was cited, but not arrested, for underage consumption:

    http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/10042872/rss

Likewise, Ahmad Paige and Gerald Jones were cited, but not arrested, for marijuana possession:

    http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2008/jan/14/jones-page-arrested-marijuana-possession-charges/

Makes you wonder about the rest of the author’s calculations. Police officers have a lot of discretion on whether to arrest someone suspected of a misdemeanor, so the fact that someone is cited for an offense when they can be arrested says a lot about how tame the underlying conduct must actually be.

  3. A lot of the Gates were cut loose too. Like when Brandon James bought that weed from a UC Cop? James was wearing one of his game jerseys when he “scored” (get it?). I think his charges were dismissed too. Cervone is the DA in the bullshit county down in gainesville. He is also a past president of the bull gator club too!!

  4. Turd, receiving a citation is an arrest…

You are simply released with the agreement to show up at court on the date indicated…

This is why if you refuse to sign a speeding ticket you will be placed into the squad car and hauled off to jail…

  5. I’d rather be in jail in Athens than live in Tennessee and be a Vol. Big bag of Orange suck.

  6. maybe you can gargle some dawg wagner in jail, vol hater

  7. The fact that you think the Vols are on a higher moral ground than UF and UGA is hilarious and pathetic. That was quite a comeback by the way……true tennessee style.

  8. @gatorhippy

A citation is not an arrest. When you are arrested, you’re placed into police custody as opposed to being temporarily detained for the length of time it takes an officer to write the summons. When you’re arrested, you are taken to the police station where you are booked and either released after posting bail to secure your presence at the preliminary hearing, or detained because you are a flight risk, a danger to the community, or both. When you are cited, you are simply charged and directed to appear in court. When you are arrested, you are in police custody and read Miranda warnings before being questioned (that’s what’s supposed to happen, anyway).

To use your example, if you refuse to sign the ticket, you will in all likelihood be arrested. If you sign the speeding ticket, you’re simply acknowledging that you have notice of the charge (“citation”).

  9. we are certainly smarter too. You forgot to add that

  10. Higher Moral Ground? I’m willing to bet that there are MAJOR shenanigans going on up in rocky top just as we speak. And, I’m not talking about this minor-violation shit.

Just the fact that Kiffin got Bryce Brown, who is probably the most self-serving recruit ever, tells me that somehow, somewhere someone received some cash in that deal. Unfortunately, it’ll probably take a while for the NCAA to get some hard evidence to act on… but, we’ll see.

  11. what does “24″ mean?

  12. I think it’s an action show on Fox :)

  13. Does this show?

  14. [...] deserving of the number one ranking in this sharticle. UGA and Mark Richt are doing pretty good too UGA has 30!!.   With that said, Pitt is doing it wrong. They suck at football and they seem to be really good [...]
