Crompton for Heisman ver 5
I really have a hard time believing the guy is as bad as he played last year. The whole offense was in shambles and half the time on the pass plays I can only wonder if Crompton thought the receiver should be somewhere else. Whether that is Crompton’s fault or the receivers something definitely was off. A few of those passes I know a lot of us just shook our head. Crompton is not a slouch of a QB and most on here give him down the road but he has a lot of tools at his disposal. A few passes that he threw last year were on the money while the receiver never broke his stride. It seemed like the whole team started playing much better near the end of the season as a whole, although it was a bit too late. I really wish the coaches would have made adjustments much sooner than they did.
Overall though for this year I really believe Crompton will be the answer for us at QB. I’m fairly certain the coaches will give Crompton a gameplay to follow in the upcoming games that he can follow easily without having to think much while doing it. The clawfense from all that I heard is a system that needed to already be implemented to work. And a program like Tennessee will not let a coach struggle for a few years to get things rolling like they did last year. I think we will have a great year if we can get Crompton to hit some 10-15 yard passes with the occasional deep ball. Cause most teams at least early this year are gonna be playing up front on us and trying to take advantage of our “poor line”. Which I think will be improved from last year with the new vitality of the program and S&C program. I think that will set up our offense to be able to make some easy passes IF our receivers can get some space between the defenders which I hope they can. Cause against any decent defense you can’t just run the ball 80-90% of the game and expect a win. So even though our running game looks to be superb they will fall on their face unless we can loosen the defense up with a nice passing attack.
So yeah go Vols, and best of luck to Crompton, most of us are pulling for you!
