Q:  Do you wish you would have stayed to coach the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma?

A:  Some wondered why I didn’t stay and coach the bowl.  Well, the best thing for West Virginia was for me not to.  I would have been a huge distraction and I wouldn’t be able to focus on just one thing, which I think a coach needs to do.  My mind would have been on two jobs instead of one.  That wouldn’t have been fair to the kids or the coaches.  Before I left, the game plan and bowl preparations were done.  We had everything in place.  I told the assistants who were coming with me to not do anything but get the kids ready for the bowl, and they did a great job of that.

If Rod had only planned for Pitt too???
