Colorado State @ Colorado (-10)

Not a game that will typically excite a lot of Southerners, but too a college football freak like me, these are right up my alley.  In a typical early season game we get a nice test like this to figure out.  Colorado State loses its starting QB and RB off a unit that racked up 395 ypg last year, in year 1 of a new scheme, and are left trying to figure out what that means for this year…was the scheme that good or was the QB/RB that important?  Colorado returns no one on the DL, and very little else off a unit that allowed 382 ypg LY (pretty respectable given they are in the B12 and faced some silly Offenses).  So who/what gives?

The other side is perhaps even more interesting.  How Colorado only managed 308 ypg of offense in the B12 last year is beyond me and perhaps one of the poorest performances I’ve seen in a long time (they were -0.9 yppl worse than average as the Defenses they faced allowed the average offense to gain 402 yards offense, or 25% worse than average from a total yardage perspective).  CSUs defense was terrible LY allowing 410 ypg and returns only 5 so what the hell happens here?  A case of the easily moveable object vs the resistible force?

There appears to be a bit too much uncertainty here for us to warrant a play, although we do like Colorado State, and think they have a pretty good shot to keep this think competitive.  We’ve released this as a Free selection for our customers, which means we don’t advocate playing it, but feel pretty strongly in some aspect of the game.
