Reading the Tea Leaves

It’s a crying shame when a player like Jackson is forced to sit out a game, possibly the season because of a minor indiscretion. I mean, who hasn’t been arrested for buying weed, carrying a gun while committing an armed robbery? Let me see a show of hands…..just what I thought….not a one of you.

Seriously, we are hearing that #15 may be cleared. So, if he is cleared what should Kiffin do with him?
Three UT football players arrested on attempted armed robbery charges » Knoxville News Sentinel

Hell, I say lets keep him!! let him play

He should have gotten charged with assault with a deadly weapon for wearing his shoulder pads. He’s such a beast for an 18 year old.

  2. 2009 November 12

Amen Mac. He is going to kill somebody with his style of play

Jai just as a heads up: UT better be worried about the connections of the female driver. She has worked for the athletic department and has interned at the Tennessee state legislature. And she is taking most of the rap. There’s more story here. The Other Shoe has not dropped.

  4. 2009 November 12

interesting choice of words; “the other shoe has not dropped”

Another day, another new low for the LWS website.

Really bad judgement saying that he is going to kill someone on the field when luckily he didn’t actually cause harm to anyone last night. Look, its all good and fun to go back and forth with comments but use a little common sense and think before you post once in a while.

I know this happens with plenty of teams aside from UT but ARMED robbery should never be tolerated by any sports program, business, or society in general. If this was any other team than UT you would support that statement 100%.

  6. 2009 November 12

You’re problem Mr. Unmanned Aircraft Operator is that you expect way to much from this website. If you can lower your standards, then you will never be surprised.

The fact is this sort of thing happens at all SEC campuses. All of them. It’s fun today to get in a few digs at UT (especially on this blog) because a lot of time and effort is put in here to somehow attempt to establish that other SEC programs are all dirty and corrupt and that UT is pure and angelic. The programs in this conference – to paraphrase George Wallace – “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference” when it comes to upstanding citizens.

It is exception as opposed to the rule at knoxville. I relaize that down in Gainesville and T-Town, this is minor shit. We see it as some major indiscretions.

Jai, I would hasten to add that only in Knoxville are “broomstick cousin rapist” and “football scholarship recipient” NOT mutually exclusive groups. On this day of all day don’t peddle that lame shit. No pun intended actually . . . .

This whole situation is just stupid all-around. Pulling a gun? On some kids that were more than likely UT students, too? In the parking lot of a Pilot store? (James Haslam, UT Booster is Pilot CEO if I’m not mistaken.) Just ridiculous.

This type of shit is the norm at TN. Thug players and stupid big mouth coaches. TN is a shithole that cheats all the time. But they want to whine and cry about how bad they have it b/c the other schools are cheating. You’ve tried to justify it by saying something about Jimmie Johns and you said this happens in places like T-Town and FL all the time. Johns sold some dope..so what…He didn’t take a small mob and rob people at gun point. People who wanted drugs went to Johns he didn’t force them. Unlike the people who didn’t want to get robbed but they were exposed to the trashy ass TN football players who do that. And Jai I don’t understand why your girlfriends picture is with the felons. Was she in on it too?

  21. 2009 November 12

Why – when this crap happens – does everybody try to insist the other team is somehow worse? That does’t stand any kind of actual factual test. It’s all SEC jingoism. It’s patent bullshit.

As an example, UT is the only school that I KNOW has a convicted rapist on scholarship. That does NOT mean that there are NO other rapists at OTHER schools because in general the thuggery around the SEC is pretty evenly distributed. It’s just ridiculous to say otherwise. It’s true Jimmy Johns sold drugs, but then again Otis Mounds did time in prison for dealing crack BEFORE Auburn gave him a football scholarship. ALL SEC teams have thugs. There is just no real “high ground” held by any of these programs and it is silly to try to pretend there is.

  27. 2009 November 12

Even when a situation has nothing to do with the Gators, UT fans still try to justify it by implying that UF is worse (bosgap). Just take your medicine on this one. It was a stupid, stupid thing to do. So be it.

Jai: “he’s going to kill someone…” He’d better up his weaponry first. You should give the chick 5 stars…her bond is $116k versus $16k for the others. She’s taking 3 for the team and gets one lousy star? It’s an outrage! Must be a Bammer behind the star system, just like Rivals. Damn, another conspiracy.

It’s b/c UT fans haven’t had anything except womens basketball to get excited about in quite some time…So, apparently they took up whining. I’ll admit they’re getting quite good at it too. I guess when you get your ass handed to you for trying to justify the terrible crime those UT POS did then banning people is your only retribution. Think Jai… you called out Jimmie Johns, AL, and FL to try to justify what these punk thugs did. They stuck a gun in somebody’s face and tried to rob them. If you want to trash our name expect your name (and your sisters)to be trashed back.

Corey B. Zickefoose, 20, said he was sitting in the driver’s seat of a 1998 Hyundai Elantra on Cumberland Ave. when one of the players pulled a gun and demanded money.

But that’s not enough to prevent the players from being kicked off the team, he told 6 News.

“I think they should still be able to play football, regardless,” he said. “Tennessee is my place. It’s my football team.”

“Even after they put a gun in your face, you say let them play football?” 6 News asked.

“Yeah, it’s Tennessee. That’s the way it is sometimes,” Zickefoose said.

If these guys dress again for UT, it’s proof he’s all talk and no substance (as we already thought). If he mans up (for once) and kicks these clowns off the team, he’ll lose his prize recruits.
