If it isn’t Ingram it will come down to the SEC cities where the sportswriters en masse left his name entirely off the ballot (Knoxville, Gainesville, Fayetteville, etc.)
The homerism and lack of sportsmanship that many of us (of all team allegiances) on this board have noted around the league is in full swing. It has now reached the point where writers in one SEC town will try to shoot down the Heisman prospects in another town. This may have been happening all the way back to Peyton Manning; I can’t say for sure. But it does reek.
Fantana, I can assure that no one in Florida thinks that Tebow should win the Heisman this year. If they do, they’re part of the small group of fans (that every school has) that are idiots. LL, I don’t think anyone in Gainesville is trying to stack the Heisman for Tebow. It is just the omission of Ingram from ballots all over the conference SEEMS more than coincidental. At stiffarmtrophy.com, Ingram is listed on 181 out of 277 ballots nationally – 2 in 3. In Knoxville, TN, Gainesville, FL amd Rayetteville, AR – as conference examples – Ingram is 0 for 5 on ballots. Not even listed. That certainly bears the aroma of homerism.

I think Gerhart should win it but I agree that for the Southeastern writers to leave Ingram off their ballots was a classless move. Seriously, he should be 1 of the top 3 on everyone’s ballot.
Mike I tend to agree with you about Gerhart – I would vote him first as well. I don’t know that Ingram is a Heisman winner, but the omissions on the ballots in SEC towns speak volumes about the current atmosphere of hate around the league.
