Put another way, if WVU had an opening tomorrow, and money was no object, is there a single ACC coach you would really want after Goiter Beamer and Paul Johnson? How about Big 10 coaches after Tressel and Ferentz? Basically, after a handful of untouchable coaches, there isn’t anyone all that interesting in most of these other leagues. The Big East goes 6 coaches deep, and Doug Marrone is showing potential. That is why the Big East is considered special.
The main thing the Big East needs is money. The conference doesn’t have enough. One more TV contract and maybe a better bowl or two, and that could change.
