I would love to see WVU land in the SEC, but in reality it is wishful thinking. This whole thing is about on-field competitiveness, not about TV deals. Mike Slive, Florida and Alabama won’t let it happen. WVU does not own a big TV market and what we would bring is probably less than the 12-team average that the SEC has right now. Total football domination of a conference that we already own….
“Sources told The Post that the SEC is considering its own expansion, one that could add Louisville and West Virginia from the Big East and perhaps Clemson, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech from the ACC.”
Big East dodges first dominoes of realignment – NYPOST.com
The current members are not going to agree to less $$ just to let us in. The more this thing shakes out, the more I see us being on our own. I hope when this is all said and done that we are in “BCS” conference, but given the fact that we won’t be adding major revenue, I’m just not overly optimistic at this point. Maybe Luck can use his Midas touch to save us……….I hope.

What alternative universe are you living in??? Expansion is done and even if it wasn’t, the SEC would never opt to scrape the bottom of the Big East barrel to get WVU.
“WVU does not own a big TV market” – Newsflash hillbilly – WVU doesn’t even own a big radio market – games scores are typically spread throughout the hollers by ground squirrel courier so when Uncle Jesco wants to find out about the final score of the “Backyard Brawl” he typically waits until January for the squirrels to get through the snow unless he happens on a Federal Agent looking for meth labs and assrapes the result out of him.
It’s amazing how quickly all this conference realignment talk has spread. It seems like almost overnight that it went from another conversation about Notre Dame possibly joining the Big Ten to a free fall of dominoes that nearly crippled the Big 12 before Texas stepped in and restored some sanity to the whole ordeal.
I will say that the Big 12 commissioner probably offered his first born to the AD at UT to keep the Longhorns in his conference in order to avoid being completely disgraced.
For all the arguments I hear about this all being driven by the all mighty dollar on every sports opinion show I still don’t understand why this is happening now and not at any other time in the previous 20 years.
There are also those that argue that all this shake up and convergence of super conferences brings us closer to an eventual college football playoff system but I’m not sure that I see the correlation.
Sux to be you….
I feel for WVU….
but can’t quite reach them….
Goodness from EDSBS:
“The Big East may be on the prowl itself, as they areallegedly seeking to add UCF and Fred Smith’s wallet. The prospect of Memphis fans and West Virginia fans meeting in the stands…goodness, that’s a lot of home tattooing converging in one place.”
Hey man ease up the Mountain Man for once he’s being honest.
But then again what kind of dumbass quotes the asswipe known as the New York Post?
