On the phone the other day Marine Dad told me a benefit he recently realized: ‘I don’t miss my cars, motorcycles, jet skis, house, big paychecks,’ he said. ‘But now everyday I’m living a dream. I get to walk by Denny Chimes, the Quad … I won’t miss one home game since I’ve been here. Being near the University of Alabama has superseded my every expectation.’ Just kidding, Marinedad loves America. Real patriots don’t think Denny Chimes is cool at all.
At this point, there are seven others who are committed to participating with me in the 2012 Bataan Memorial Death March as an unofficial team. Our team includes current and former active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces, law enforcement representatives, and regular Joes. In addition to our personal reward for finishing the March, we believe that our efforts should benefit others. We have agreed upon four charities for which we want to raise funds through our participation, and have created online donation sites for each charity, specific to our efforts. For purposes of fundraising, we have created Team BMDM 2012. Our fundraising goal is $2,500 for each charity, for a total of $10,000. Please help us help our wounded troops and those who are fighting a different battle with Parkinson’s Disease. 10 Mile Rock: Going 26.2 with a purpose
