Vandy Preview

James Franklin: “We have the  most explosive offense in the SEC”.

Vandy may or may not be a good team but lets not kid ourselves on why they’ve played like they are good.  It is fools gold people.

Vandy is loaded with juniors/ seniors and RS juniors/seniors who’ve spent their entire career getting stomped by nearly every team they played. They finally have a coach who’s blowing sunshine up their butt and they’re hungry to end their career on a positive note. It’s similar to Bruce Pearl’s first team here, they weren’t as talented as a lot of other teams they played but they were hungry.

Looking back at Vandy’s schedule, they played UGA close because UGA was looking ahead to the bye week and playing Florida.  Against Florida? Lets be honest Florida wasn’t probably really expecting a 4 quarter fight from Vandy. They played Florida close because the Gators entire offensive scheme is pretty much based on 3 players;  2 of them were out with injury and the other was playing hurt. Vandy should have lost by 14 to the Gators, but Florida botched a 2 pt conversion, and Vandy was able to score at the very end when Florida’s defense knew they had the game won and had quit playing.

Yes, Vandy played Arkansas close, but look at Arkansas’s games after their loss to Bama. They played every game close. They didn’t even start playing aTm (ass to mouth) until the second half. The Hogs didn’t really start playing to their ability until they played Southern Carolina and LSU beat Bama  renewing their hopes at an SEC champ/NC. There’s probably some correlation there.

Yeah, Vandy beat Kentucky by a lot, but who hasn’t?

I’m not saying Vandy’s a terrible team, because they’re probably not, but they’re definitely not a good team.

Bray’s going to give this Tennessee Offense  a spark. Bray’s ability to effortlessly throw a football is just silly. Poor Simms has to get it wound up and Bray looks like he is playing toss with his little nephew or something. Granted he didn’t look 100% on some throws, but his naturally ability is amazing. Vandy’s going to come in overconfident, I’m not saying its an automatic win, but we have way more to lose than Vandy, and I hope our players will see this as a chance at redemption. This won’t be fair to Vandy, Clay Travis or James Franklin.

I’m already basking in the glory that awaits us.

  1. Excellent predictive analysis as always. Vandy fans were only kidding themselves if they thought they could defeat the flagship program from the state of Tennessee.
