Yesterday Colin Cowherd talked about Phil Fulmer for nearly 3-4 minutes straight [Podcast]. This season is beginning to look and feel like when they brought Johnny Majors home from Pitt in the 70′s. Except there is not a Johnny Majors to bring home. Even the newspapers across Tennessee are beginning to openly discuss Fulmer’s departure.

In summary, Cowherd said that Fulmer was good (not great) and when he was winning in the 90′s, that other SEC schools didn’t have great coaches. Now that the SEC is the premier league then you must have a premier/elite coach. He said Fulmer was not an elite coach and that he can’t compete against Spurrier, Miles, Richt, Saban, and Meyer. He also said that Tennessee deserves better than that and that UT is a big time football school and need a big time coach.
He went through the bowl losses since ’99 and said that it totally unacceptable for UT to have not gone to a bowl 1 yr….saying that there are 624 bowls to go to and we didn’t make one. ComparingFulmer’s bowl record with other great coaches’ bowl records and said it wasn’t even close.

Psst, that's my photo; the Creative Commons license is Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs Creative Commons. I don't really care about the no derivative works thing in this case, but could you at least attribute the original properly? Thanks.
