@TonyBasilio: UT is really getting agressive in the pursuit of Gruden from what I’m hearing. This is impressive. #Vols
Dooley: Will he stay or will he go? | Losers with Socks (LWS)
Derek Dooley again finds himself as the last line of defense on the eve of another ominous assignment against South Carolina, fending off concerns about his coaching future yesterday while speculation mounts that he may have hurt the feelings of Justin Hunter and Tyler Bray.
The former NFL assistant was under bombardment on a variety of fronts as the very focused Tennessee Vols finalized preparations for what they hope will be a face-saving though inconsequential win – a last opportunity to partially atone for their failure to regain the SEC East trophy or challenge for the Outback Bowl appearance.
Dooley, abhorring any détente, turned up the heat for the South Carolina build-up when he revealed he was exploring his options – including Arkansas or a return to the NFL – in light of his contract negotiations with the AD Dave Hart having dragged on for six months without resolution.
“That’s part of the negotiation process these days,” Hart told a source.
“It’s pretty routine. Derek’s very aware that we’d rather have him here than not.”
Meanwhile, it was evident Dooley, who is contracted until the end of 2016, would rather not speculate on his chances of completing his term.
Weary of fielding questions on the stress he was under to return the one of college football’s blue-blood programs into a genuine challenger for the SEC’s top spot, Dooley insisted the pressure had not been ramped up in the wake another lackluster moral victory over Alabama. “We have to go prove it on the field. Do I feel confident we will? I do,” he said.
One player added, “”When you’re hoeing a row of cotton, you ain’t got time to look up and see how far down the row you are. You’ve just got to hang on to that hoe handle and keep hacking. At some point and time, we’ll try to see where we are, but right now we’re too busy working.”

Blue blood program? Are you joking? UT football has gone the way of the dodo and it isn't coming back.

Jim, thanks for the comment. Tennessee is more akin to a one of those hunting falcons like the Arabs favor
