On Friday (with a forecast full moon) I plan on watching this insane quarterback clinic and riding this intense, emotional ride. ‘The Bray’ is hypnotic, terrifying, affective, poetic, and the best QB that I’ve seen this year.
Twitter agrees with me; @THEBRAY has floored me,” reads the first tweet, attributed to @Vols_Deep and then “Kicks unholy ass,” reads the next, from @fakewesrucker and the obligatory “oh shit,” from @TomObriensfleshlight
After the Vols leading receiver Da’Rick Rogers crash landed in Cookeville Tennessee, Vols QB Tyler Bray or ‘The Bray’ and a bunch of guys trying to just be like him are headed to the Georgia Dome this Friday to take on the NC State Wolfpack; a pack of neutered wolves that is….. Keep in mind that wolves are expressive, intelligent and emotive beings, and the looming crisis is not the Wolfpack scoring on Tennessee, but literally the Wolfpack being blown out of the Georgia Dome. But unlike ‘Jaws’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’The Bray’ is going to be a work of entertainment and a powerful statement of victory.
Has anyone actually ever met or seen an NC State fan? If they do exist they may object to ‘The Bray’ itself. It has been whispered that the Vols reportedly got into game week mode by dining on a wolf that had been trapped in Canada. Derek Dooley has been quoted as calling the meat “it tastes like chicken but very gamey”. He said of the meat, “I knew how bad it was gonna be and I knew what we were facing so we just all went through it together on the Sunday. We all communally ate wolf and it wasn’t appetizing. It was one of those necessary things because I wanted them (players) to have a sense of the game we are gonna play. We’re gonna eat wolf and then we’re gonna go out in the turf.”
So how it will go down on Friday? For NC State’s “Super Bowl”? Not very good for the bad guys as The Bray “recklessly” goes for at least 250 yards on them and a revived running game goes for 150 plus yards. I don’t think the game is remotely close. There is too much talent and depth on the Vols side relative to what NC State has. I think it will be close in the first quarter and a half and then the Vols will run away.
Frankly I think this game will be like the Cal opener a few years ago may be bad for the Vols in that it may create unrealistic expectations and give the Vols a false postives of what they can do and how good they can be in certain areas. Florida is going to test the run game in ways that the first three opponents don’t even have a chance to do. Florida should be a huge step up in talent on the defensive side and I hope the Vols will have established a true sense of their offensive identity by then.
