Fatigue of EERs football? Not hardly.
I turned on ESPN, and they spent a decent amount of time talking about WVU; I watched “Big 12 This Week” yesterday, and the first 5 minutes or so was pretty much exclusively about WVU, Geno Smith and Holgorsen. I noticed WVU is in the commercial for NCAA ’13 video game, we have a gameday commercial (although I’ve not seen it on TV, but the fact that it was at least made…) Geno is talked about every time someone mentions QB, or Heisman, Tavon or Sted when WR is mentioned or exciting players etc….it goes on and on.
I personally don’t remember WVU ever having this much national recognition unless we had spanked an SEC team. It’s great. Some of those big recruits we’re looking at will surely see all the attention and notice that we are a nationally respected program (because I think that has been the overwhelming feeling of late…that WVU constantly is a good team, but is never respected as we all feel that we should be). I know our program has been known for getting the 2-3 star recruits and building them up, but it never hurts to land those big time recruits, and I think that the increased national attention we are getting, and the seeming heightened respect will only help us. With recruiting, much of it is finding a place where you fit with the coaches/players/area…but a lot of it is also a popularity contest. It’s nice seeing us get the same kind of media time as some of the big boys like Texas, USC, etc.
